INTERNATIONAL WELDING SPECIALIST

International Welding Specialist (IWS)

If you want to advance your knowledge in welding technology and pursue a career in Greece or abroad in a responsible position within the welding construction industry, then the Welding Specialist diploma is the right choice for you. Graduates of Merchant Marine Academies (MMA) or recognized Institutes of Vocational Training – (IVT) with related subjects can participate in the training and exams leading to the diploma. The training program is ideal for improving the career prospects of professionals working or aspiring to work in any industry involving welded constructions. The scope of action for welding specialists ranges from structural constructions, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries to heavy metal constructions, high-pressure vessel manufacturing, offshore projects, pipeline networks, and the petrochemical industry, as well as power generation stations. Every small or large construction unit that performs material connections requires a welding specialist or a Welding Engineer.

The diploma is internationally recognized. This specific specialization in the science of welding offers a significant competitive advantage. The Welding Specialist can improve the production process by reducing production costs and enhancing quality, which leads to increased competitiveness for the business. Additionally, the Welding Specialist enables the company to obtain the necessary certifications according to EN 3834 and EN 1090, which are now essential in the Greek and international market.

The welding specialist is proven to have the knowledge on matters related to the science and technology of welding and connections. They have the ability to manage all tasks related to welding and other forms of joining construction elements according to technical requirements and standards governing the construction. They are involved in all phases of a project: before its start, during its execution, and after the construction is completed.

There is now high demand in Greece and abroad for well-trained and specialized professionals to assume positions as welding coordinators, welding technicians, quality control supervisors, or foremen.

The program lasts 448 hours (mandatory attendance of 249 hours), of which 60 hours are dedicated to practical applications and exercises. The training is conducted every Friday (16:00 – 21:15), Saturday, and Sunday (09:00 – 17:45) twice a month at our company’s facilities. The program is divided into four main modules and practical training.

All lectures and corresponding notes are provided in Greek, with English terminology also taught. Besides the practical training, extensive digital material presentations (videos, images, etc.) are conducted during the theoretical training. At the end of each module, there are written exams.

A significant advantage of the Hellenic Welding Association is the ability to provide a fully equipped practical training laboratory with welding machines and necessary tools in both Athens and Thessaloniki. Thus, the 60 hours of practical training required by the program are not theoretical but allow each participant to weld themselves, understanding the demands and challenges of each method.

Each participant is given the opportunity to practice welding in our laboratory, which is available to all students at any time.

The Hellenic Welding Association ensures that the significant investment of each participant, which is none other than the time dedicated to this demanding training program, is worthwhile. The training provided is the best possible, thanks to our highly experienced and knowledgeable instructors. Our instructors are Ph.D. engineers with extensive experience in welding and knowledge of best practices used worldwide.

The training program offered by the Hellenic Welding Association provides participants with a unique experience that leads to a brilliant career in the field. This is because our company also takes care of the professional placement of the participants.
